Woman Carjacked In North Shelby County
Release Date: June 20, 2006
Sheriff’s Deputies continue their search for two men who carjacked an Atoka woman last night as she drove along Highway 14.
It happened just after 7:30 last night. The 52 year-old lady told Deputies she had just left a shopping center at 3165 Austin Peay when two men rose up from the back seat of her van.
Although the woman never saw a gun, the men indicated they would shoot her if she didn’t give them her vehicle.
The woman then pulled the van over to the side of the road on Highway 14 near Old Brownsville Road. She was forced to get out of the vehicle and the two men then sped away.
The woman, who had her cell phone, then called deputies to report what had happened. Deputies are still looking for the van and the two men.
The woman’s vehicle is a 1997 maroon color Dodge van with a white or silver stripe along the side. It has Tennessee tag 429-MGP.
The suspects are both black men in their twenties with a medium build.
One man had short hair and was wearing a blue tee shirt and shorts.
The other man had a medium afro hair style and was wearing a white tee shirt and blue jeans.
Anyone with information about the carjacking is asked to call the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office Detective Bureau at (901) 545-5600 or Crime Stoppers at (901) 528-CASH (2274).
