Woman Visiting Collierville Relatives Killed In Traffic Crash

Release Date: August 10, 2006

Sheriff’s Deputies say a Florida woman visiting her daughter-in-law in Collierville has died from injuries from a head-on collision yesterday evening on Bill Morris Parkway.

Pam Kolva,63, of Ormond Beach, Florida, died last evening at The Regional Medical Center. On Tuesday, August 8, she was riding in a Saturn driven by her daughter-in-law, Jennifer Kolva, 32, of Collierville, when another vehicle hit the Saturn head-on. Kolva, and her eleven month-old daughter, were also injured.

Deputies say just after 5:30, Kristina Davis, 27, of Cordova, was driving a Ford Explorer west on Bill Morris Parkway just near Houston Levee Road when she lost control of the vehicle. The SUV ran off the road, traveled across the median and hit Ms. Kolva’s car. Ms. Davis’ two sons, a four year-old and a six month-old were also injured with their mother.

Traffic Deputies say all three children involved in the two-vehicle crash survived their injuries as a result of being properly strapped in child safety seats. This evening, Ms. Davis and Ms. Kolva are still hospitalized at The Med in stable condition.

No charges have been filed in connection with the crash but the investigation is continuing. Deputies say alcohol was not a factor.
