Shelby County Sheriff’s Office Deputies To Compete In “World Challenge” S.W.A.T. Event

Members of the Sheriff’s Office S.W.A.T. Team have received an invitation to participate in the “Original S.W.A.T. World Challenge” competition later this month in Little Rock, Arkansas.
Beginning on March 27 and continuing through March 30, 2006, Sheriff’s Office S.W.A.T. Team Commander Lieutenant Andy Boyd and other members of the squad will join 24 other teams from all over the world at the Little Rock, Arkansas Convention Center.
“Our deputies are to be commended for earning the opportunity to be part of this prestigious event. The competition will put our training to the supreme test. With critical, life-threatening events facing us routinely, competitions like this keep our deputies ready to meet those challenges,” said Shelby County Sheriff Mark H. Luttrell, Jr.
The Sheriff’s Office S.W.A.T. Team earned the invitation to enter the competition based on its legacy of being one of the top tactical teams in the nation. The competition was been established to provide an annual world-level conference for law enforcement solely focused on the needs of the S.W.A.T. community. The four days of activities feature the competition, S.W.A.T. symposium and vendor exhibit.
Experts from the S.W.A.T. and law enforcement community will present educational classes and provide a forum for discussion about the latest tactical enforcement methods that will include: Use of Lethal Force, Tactical Medicine, Active Shooter, Vehicle Assaults and Takedowns. More than 400 tactical officers will be part of the competition in Little Rock, Arkansas.
