Sheriff's Deputies Arrest 19 in East Shelby County Enforcement Initiative

Seventy-five (75)Shelby County Sheriff’s Office Deputies and support personnel focused their attention in East Shelby County neighborhoods last night and early this morning.

The “Zero Tolerance” initiative was in response to reports of home burglaries, larcenies and other criminal activity in the East Shelby county area.

“The safety of residents and business operators in East Shelby County is our priority. We are also working with neighborhood watch groups to get the cooperation of citizens to report suspicious activity,” said Shelby County Sheriff Mark H. Luttrell, Jr.

For several hours Friday night and Saturday morning, Deputies assigned to the Patrol, Gang, S.W.A.T., Fugitive, Traffic, Narcotics, Street Crimes, K-9 and Reserve bureaus conducted the “Zero Tolerance” initiative.

The enforcement effort also included traffic safety checkpoints at various intersections.

As with the other “Zero-Tolerance” crime initiatives, Sheriff’s Deputies were assisted by staff with the Sheriff’s Office Emergency Services Squad and Jail Division.
