Deputies Conduct Zero Tolerance Enforcement Effort In South-East Shelby County

More than 130 Shelby County Sheriff’s Office Deputies and support personnel focused their attention in the South-East Shelby County area last night and early this morning.

The “Zero Tolerance” initiative was in response to reports of home burglaries, larcenies and criminal gang activity noted in the area.

“The safety of residents and business operators in South-East Shelby County is our top priority. We are also working with neighborhood watch groups to encourage citizens to report suspicious activity,” said Shelby County Sheriff Mark H. Luttrell, Jr.

For several hours last night and early today, Deputies assigned to the Patrol, Gang, S.W.A.T., Fugitive, Traffic, Narcotics, Street Crimes and Reserve bureaus conducted the “Zero Tolerance” enforcement effort which included traffic safety checkpoints.

As in other “Zero-Tolerance” crime initiatives, Sheriff’s Deputies were assisted by members of the Sheriff’s Office Emergency Services and Jail Divisions which assisted in the booking process of those arrested.

Here are the results of the Sheriff's Office crime suppression effort:

Total Arrests-42

Felony-6

  • (Includes one man wanted by Milwaukee, Wisconsin Police on drug charges)

  • (Includes two Juvenile Summons)

Total Traffic Tickets-258

  • Regular-168
  • Courtesy- 90

Narcotics Recovered —

  • 30 Loritab Tablets
  • 21.5 G of Marijuana
  • 18.3 G of Cocaine
  • 2 Xanax Tablets

Cash Seized —

  • 1624 Dollars

Weapons Recovered —

  • One Pistol

“The “Zero Tolerance” enforcement initiatives will continue in our patrol districts throughout Shelby County,” added Sheriff Luttrell.
