The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office Patrol Support Services Bureau is separated into four units: Traffic, Motors, DUI, and School Support.
Traffic Unit
The Traffic Unit is responsible for working all critical, fatal and department vehicle crashes. All traffic investigators are certified traffic re-constructionist and have the ability to recreate a traffic fatality in its entirety to be able to see what occurred.
Motors Unit
The Motors Unit is responsible for all request for escorts (Funerals, dignitaries, University of Memphis football games, etc.) as well as assisting with traffic crashes, departmental vehicle crashes and school crossings. All motors deputies train on a regular basis to ensure safety and re-certify on their motorcycle yearly.
DUI Unit
The DUI Unit is responsible for working all stops and crashes that involve suspicion of driving under the influence. All DUI deputies are certified in testing and stay up to date on all training offered.
School Support Unit
The School Support Unit is comprised of all School resource officers. SRO’s are responsible for all on campus issues that may arise involving students, staff and parents. They are present to provide a safe environment for students to be able to learn in. They also attend most sporting events to ensure that the games are able to be enjoyed safely.
